Third Times the Darnold Charm?
Sam Darnold is entering his 7th season on his third team as a week 1 starter and at just 27 years old, people feel like he still has a shot to be a franchise guy. After a one year stint backing up Purdy in San Francisco, the Vikings decided to take a flier on Darnold with Kirk's departure. Darnold's career has been a rollercoaster up to this point with instability. For the first four weeks of 2021, Darnold looked to be the franchise guy in Carolina. Ultimately just like in New York, shit hit the fan and it became a disaster.
Considering the current and past state of the Panthers and Jets, it's not exactly like either franchise is thriving without Darnold. Over the last 3 months, Darnold's market has seen tremendous market growth with a 67% gain. With a dominant week 1, albeit against the Giants... Darnold looks to make the most of likely his last chance to be a franchise guy in the NFL.
